Welcome to my review of the Bauer Supreme UltraSonic chest protector.

This chest protector was featured in our article of the “best goalie chest protectors” and for some good reasons.

Bauer Supreme UltraSonic Goalie Chest Protector Review

To start it off, this chest protector is one of the most advanced you can get in 2020.

However, there is a case to be made that Bauer just makes up a whole lot of cool names for different parts of the protector for marketing reasons.

We don’t really know whether the technology placed into the chest protector is actually productive or just a sound cool, look cool, feel good situation.

But, speaking from firsthand experience, this chest protector is actually quite the machine.  It’s not that I’ve actually used it before, but I’ve picked it up in store to see how it feels.

And let me tell you something, I really did like it.

Protection

Speaking from a protection stand point, the UltraSonic chest protector is built like a tank.

And obviously it should be, considering the price point.  But, it doesn’t take away from the fact that you aren’t going to feel any pucks hit the chest or arm areas.

Being that I was only able to check it out in store, I wasn’t able to actually take shots with it on.

But, I know a protective chest protector when I see one.

I’ve been playing the game of hockey for quite some time now, and stopped a lot of pucks up to this point.

The one thing that I can tell you about this chest protector with certainty is that it’s got a lot of protection.

Listen to some of the different types of protection that is features in this chest protector.

360 Coverage, Floating ShockLite + Poron, Thermo Core, belly pad ShockLite, Hypersense Liner, AMP Arm with CURV + ShockLite.

You see what I’m saying with the marketing stand point?

There is no mention of HD foam.

I’m getting off track here, just realize that the UltraSonic chest protector is highly protective.

Mobility

The next most important aspect of a good chest protector is mobility.

One of the first benefits I noticed in the UltraSonic was it’s ability to move around and be flexible.

The arms are really easy to bend and move around which allows for maximum mobility and rotation.

Nearly the entire chest protector is adjustable with elastic bunjee straps.

The “360 degree” technology is designed for goalies to have full rotation of the head, without obstructed vision.

Again, I wasn’t able to play in this chest protector, but it does have really good mobility to it.

And since it’s adjustable, you can create and fit that you would like.

There really is no limit.

Well actually there is, but you get the point.

You’ll have a wide range of motion when playing the Bauer Supreme UltraSonic chest protector.

Durability

Another super important aspect to consider when getting a new chest protector is durability.

When you are spending $500 plus on a piece of goalie equipment, you want it to last longer than a single season.

And being that the UltraSonic lineup just came out this past spring, it’s hard to know for sure how long this chest protector will last.

Previous Bauer pads have been notorious for breaking down after a single season of use.

The Bauer 2S Pro pads hardly made it through the first year I wore them.  However, the Bauer Vapor 2X Pro pads did make it through a year easily without any durability concerns.

Bringing it back to chest protectors, the Bauer Vapor 2X Pro chest protector was known for it’s durability.

Which is surprising, but I’m assuming the same will be for the UltraSonic chest protector.

Bauer has been getting better and better at creating long lasting goalie gear.  And I think that if you are in favor of how well you are going to be able to move in this chest protector, it’s worth it.

If you take care of it, and don’t throw it down on the ground every night, I’m sure that it will hold up very well.

I mean the Vapor 2X chest protector was durable, you have to assume that the durability of newer gear would only go up.

And maybe that’s me being presumptuous, but I’m pretty sure that I’m on the right track.

And if you are super concerned about durability, get a Vaughn Velocity V9 Pro Carbon chest protector.  (If you click the link I’ve got a full review there).
