What’s better, an awesome looking set of goalie pads or a well designed mask? How about both? As we continue to move forward in the age of digital printing on goalie pads, more and more NHL goalies are debuting unique goalie gear.
In this guide, we’ll look at every goalie mask design in 2018/2019. We’ll feature the artists as well as a brief story behind the mask, if we have one.
Often times, a goalie may have several masks that they wear throughout the season. Devan Dubnyk of the Minnesota Wild has been known to alternate gear he wears at home and on the road, as well as his masks. Or, goalies may wear a certain mask for a charity event, like Hockey Fights Cancer.
Regardless of how many times a mask is worn, we’ll feature it here. This article isn’t going to rank the best goalie masks worn in the NHL this season, but we’ll be more than willing to help you draw your own conclusions.
Best NHL Goalie Mask Designs 2018 – 2019 Season: A Complete List
If certain NHL teams require their goalies to stick to a certain color requirement or design on their gear, goalie masks are where the athletes can truly express themselves. There is so much more to each mask than meets the eye on TV, whether it’s an intricate design that tells a story, or if it’s specifically designed to match the goalies gear.
When each goalies mask is released this season, we’ll post it below. If you’re looking for goalie gear worn in the NHL during the 2018/19 season check out our article from earlier this year.

Carter Hutton will wear a Vaughn mask painted by Jesse’s Custom Design.
Hutton will actually wear two masks. Whether he decides to wear one at home and on the road is up for debate. He may have had two masks (one being a practice mask) painted simply for more exposure to the painter.

Colton Point wears a Bauer helmet painted by Sylabrush.
The first thing fans will notice about Point’s helmet is that features matte paint. This has become a popular style in the past several years and for good reason, too. The paint job is designed to go well with both the Dallas Stars and Texas Stars uniforms from both a distance and up close.

Laurent Brossoit will a mask painted by DaveART.
Brossoit Brossoits mask is a white based design likely painted to match the Bauer 2S pads he will wear. For those into gear switches, Brossoit went from Vaughn to Bauer this year after being picked up by the Jets.

Ken Appleby will wear a mask painted / sketched by DaveART.
DaveART does a large percentage of masks for professional goalies, he’s the official Bauer mask painter of the NHL. Painted cages are also becoming extremely popular, which in our opinion is better for fans. Masks that incorporate the design right into the cage are highly appealing!
