Warrior is arguably the top goalie stick brand on the market.  Most of the NHLers are using them and for good reasons (we’ll get to why).

With every new year passing and new goalie equipment coming onto the market, we also get to look at new goalie sticks.

So recently, we purchased the newest goalie stick from Warrior, Warrior M1.

This post is a full review of this stick and whether I think it’s worth it for you to get or not.

This stick will succeed the Warrior Ritual V1 Pro+ that they released a year ago.

Warrior Goalie RM1 Stick Review

The Warrior RM1 stick is a pro level goalie stick that will most certainly be used in the NHL.

While we most likely won’t see the Warrior RM1 in the NHL during the season shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic, it most certainly will be in the big show during the 2020-2021 season.

Warrior does not pay NHL licensing fees for any equipment, with the exception of their sticks. The CR1 and the V1 Pro+ exploded in popularity over the past three years and the RM1 will be no different.

Warrior offers three options for the RM1.

Positives of the M1 Goalie Stick

The first thing that I noticed in this twig is that it’s quite lightweight.  Now being that it’s only a $100, I assumed that it wouldn’t be lighter or even close to as light as my V1 Pro stick (also from Warrior), but I was wrong.  (I switched to the M1 from the V1 Pro because I wanted to try a shorter paddle, more on that here).

I don’t know the exact weight of the stick but it’s very good for a lower end composite stick.

Regardless, weight isn’t the only important factor to consider when getting a new stick.

Maybe even more important is hand vibration.

And I’m not going to lie to you, I was impressed yet again.

There isn’t a whole lot of shock after a puck is sent bouncing off of it.

Yeah I’ve caught a stinger here or there with this stick, but not nearly as much stingers as I caught with Bauer 2S Pro.

And there might be a touch more hand shock than the V1 Pro, but they’re very comparable in my opinion.

The last big factor that I like in the M1 goalie stick is that it’s very inexpensive.

I mean most goalie sticks in 2021 cost upwards of $250 and so finding something that actually performs like a high end stick for less than half the price is a steal.

Overall I’m satisfied with the positives.

Negatives

I really don’t have much negative things to say about this stick.  It cost me hardly anything to play with…

But if I did have to complain about something it would be that the shaft is slippery.

Now, I think that’s the point, to make poke-checks easy.

But I don’t love it… mainly because I don’t utilize the poke-check as much as I probably should.

It results in me dropping the stick in practice quite a bit.

I haven’t dropped it in a game though.

Overall Opinion of the M1 Goalie Stick

I would actually recommend this goalie stick to a lot of people.  If you can afford and want to get an even better stick like the Pro+ than go right ahead… But this stick is pretty sick.

I don’t regret that $100 spent at all.  And as far as quality goes, I’ve seen no issues.
