“X” Edgework Skating Drill for Goalies

Drill Description:

This drill follows a simple “X” pattern designed to force the goalie to work on controlling their outside edges, as a result, improving their overall skating ability.

What To Work On In This Drill:

The focus for this drill should be on the goalie skating around each individual puck. If the pucks are placed to far apart, feel free to move them to a tighter pattern.

With any drill, the most important part is getting the details right. While the pucks are placed in a square, the focus of this drill is not the T-Push across the center. We’re working on quick, compact feet, good stick positioning in the five hole, and explosive pushes with our skate edges while in the butterfly position.
