As first broke by @goaliegearnerd on Instagram, Winnipeg Jets goalie prospect Jamie Phillips will be making the switch to Bauer 2S gear for the upcoming NHL season.
Phillips is one of the Jets top goaltending prospects and has wore CCM gear for most of his career. Just last season, Phillips wore CCM Premier 2 gear.
Right now, it appears the Phillips is simply testing the 2S line, waiting until the upcoming season to debut a custom graphic (if he chooses to do so). Ordering a custom graphic has been less prevalent in the NHL up to this point, but that’s probably heavily influenced by the fact that a lot of NHL goalies feel darker gear makes their gear look smaller.
@jamiephillips30 will be shifting to @bauergoalie this upcoming season. His pads will be 2S with 1X strapping, which he said he found lighter and able to slide better than his previous pads. He also mentioned that he likes his pads with a “fresh out of the box” feel and hopes the 2S (with their unique construction) will not absorb moisture from the humidity associated with playing in the south. 📸: @bujan_goaltending #GGNBauer
