As we work our way through the 7 Day challenge, you’re probably noticing a few things. Number 1, a focus on hand eye coordination. Secondly, simply performing the drills. It’s not always about who is the most creative, but who actually gets out there and DOES IT.
There are a million drills you can develop yourself when it comes to off ice goalie training–however one major area that translates directly to on-ice performance is your hand eye coordination. Find creative ways to incorporate hand eye work into your drills and you are well on your way to improved puck tracking on the ice.
For Today’s 3 Drill set, complete these in any order.Â

Drill #1 : Lateral Hops w/ Tennis Ball
In this drill, your partner simply tosses the tennis ball while you hop laterally. Try working in short sets of 5 to each side for a total of 10 to start, completing 2-4 sets before moving to drill #2.
Focus on landing properly, locking your eyes on the ball and watching it all the way in to your hand.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”full-width-section” css=”.vc_custom_1482513010081{margin-bottom: 0px !important;padding-top: 35px !important;padding-bottom: 35px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
Drill #2Â : Explosive Reactions
Start in an athletic position with your head and eyes forward.
When your partner tosses the ball over your head, sprint forward to grab it.
If you’re in your living room, assume your position as you would if you were facing a breakaway. Have your partner toss the ball over your head, but within 1-3 arms lengths of your body. Explode forward to catch the ball after the first bounce.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Drill #3Â :Â Track The Tennis Ball
This drill could not get any easier.
Starting in either a standing or a kneeling position, have your partner softly shoot or throw tennis balls towards either hand.
Watch the tennis ball the entire way into your hand the entire time.
Add in some extra pieces to the drill by jumping 180 degrees before your partner shoots the ball.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
