This week’s @bauergoalie Development Series video focuses on some “advanced basics” of the position, all within the confines of a simple triangle drill pattern:
1) Proper stick involvement — making contact with the puck between the heel and mid-point of the stick using a simple upper body rotation.
2) Low tracking — staying “down” on the puck with our forehead and shoulders to economize movement and encourage visual attachment with our whole eye (rather than peripheral vision).
3) Looking off the puck (aka “head check”) — briefly getting our eyes up ice to scan and process information about what the opposing team is doing.
