Like most other goalies, the very first thing I thought of when I saw the jerseys for the Seattle Kraken was, “those will make for some nice looking goalie pads”. If you’re a goalie, you just.. get it. Goalies love their gear and fans of the position love to heckle NHL goalies for not doing enough with their pad designs.
I mean, look at our name.
Passing up a chance to cover the gear worn by goalies for the Seattle Kraken, the NHL’s latest franchise, was to good an opportunity to pass up.
The Seattle Kraken goaltenders for 2021-22 are:
- Phillip Grubauer
- Chris Driedger
- Joey Daccord
- Antoine Bibeau

Here are the pads Seattle Kraken goalies will wear this season
First, let’s take at the jerseys Seattle will wear this season. As far as NHL teams are concerned, these leave plenty of room for imagination for the goalies who will have the chance to break in a new set of pads this season.
The Kraken will debut the following jerseys and color scheme for the following season. Of course, it leaves plenty of room for unique goalie pad designs. Photo of Seattle Kraken Jerseys by Icethetics.
Philipp Grubauer, wearing True (Lefevre) L12.2 Pads
Phlipp Grubauer, projected to be the number one starter in Seattles inagural season, will wear True L12.2 pads. For those familiar with goalie equipment, Lefevre shocked the equipment world when they parted ways with CCM. While it may have been CCM breaking up with Lefevre, the Lefevre family are likely not too disappointed with how things have went.
CCM proceeded to lose just about every goalie wearing their gear, as the majority migrated to True. Grubauer was no different, as he wore True (Lefevre) pads last season.

Chris Driedger, wearing Vaughn goalie pads for the Kraken
Former Panthers netminder Chris Driedger has perhaps the most opportunity for a custom Seattle Kraken design with his gear. That’s due largely in part to the fact that the other goalies in the organization wear True (Lefevre) pads, who, at this time do not print custom designs on their gear.

Joey Daccord’s Seattle Kraken Pads, True (Lefevre)
Of all the goalies in the Kraken organization for their inagural season, Daccord has the best style. His pads are the most colorful and they seem to fit the best with both the Kraken’s home and away uniforms. Unfortunately for fans of goalie pads, Daccord will likely not be the goalie you see on TV every night.
