With the 2018 NHL Entry Draft just months away, it’s time we take a look at some of the top goaltending prospects available for the draft.

During the 2017 NHL draft, we saw the Dallas Stars take Boston University goalie Jake Oettinger in the first round, an anomaly when it comes to draft day.

Typically, goaltenders are selected in the later rounds of the draft, if at all. With goalies developing far later than their forward/defenseman counterparts, teams can afford to sit back and wait.

Take for example, Charlie Lindgren. Lindgren, not drafted during his year, was signed as a free agent out of St. Cloud State University in March of 2016. At the time, he was one of the top college goalies available and has proved to be a valuable asset for the Canadiens.
